Types of Fireplaces

Inserts

Gas inserts are retrofitted wood-burning fireplaces that operate using gas. Inserts sit inside a metal box surrounded by a larger metal box that fits into the fireplace. The gas insert heats air in the area between these two boxes and then emits heat from its firebox.

Built-ins

A built-in fireplace, also known as a wood-framed fireplace, is a new installation into a home where you do not already have a fireplace.

Log sets

Gas logs offer all the ambience and warmth of a real, wood-burning fire without the mess and maintenance. Although they look like real wood, gas logs are usually made of ceramic, which enables them to withstand high temperatures.

Free Standing

A free-standing, or stand-alone, fireplace is essentially what it sounds like. It's free-standing, so it doesn't have to be built into a home the way a traditional fireplace does.

See Through

Double-sided fireplaces require double the space—and offer double the warmth. Often contemporary in style, a grand double-sided fireplace works best in open-concept areas and indoor / outdoor rooms, in which it creates multiple, aesthetically cohesive spaces connected through the fireplace wall.

Linear

A linear fireplace is a rectangular gas fireplace that can be installed indoors and outdoors. The most popular linear fireplaces are direct-vent models. The combustion gases are expelled through a wall-mounted vent or through the roof.

These are 46" and greater in length.

Vent Free

A Vent Free Gas Fireplace is a system that doesn't need venting to operate. For this reason, they are made to burn clean and allow the combustion by-product to flow into the room the fireplace is in.
